Solihull Artists Forum (SAF) is a dynamic organisation of professional visual and contemporary craft based artists who work to raise the profile of arts in the Solihull area.
Initially set up in 2001 to consult and work with Solihull MBC when the Borough was engaged in establishing an Arts strategy. SAF provides both networking and professional development opportunities with a support framework for artists and craftspeople who earn all or part of their income within the creative industry. It seeks to improve exhibition and business oportunities for its members.
SAF also benefits from the support offered by Solihull Council's Arts team through regular meetings at the Arts Complex and the provision of exhibition oportunities in the main gallery along with the circulation of regular information about opportunities for local artists.
TEN GOOD REASONS TO JOIN SAF
1 FANTASTIC WEBSITE
Regularly updated, our website gives each artist his or her own page plus events, news and links, a good start for any artist to build a presence online.
2 EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITIES
SAF organises at least one group exhibition a year; recent venues have included SAF Artist' Fair, Knowle Village Hall, Preston Baget Art Barn, Gallery 150 Leamington
Spa and Baddesley clinton. We also regularly exhibit G1 Solihull Arts Complex. This gives artists increased opportunities to sell their work and enables artists to gain advice
and help with pricing.
3 ANNUAL SAF ART TRIAL
Now a well established and popular annual event, SAF's Art Trail provides the opportunity for artists to open their studios to the public, sell their work direct and meet lots
of new contacts.
4 REGULAR GROUP MEETINGS AND SOCIAL EVENTS
We like to meet regularly too keep in touch, to discuss the issues of the moment or just to enjoy each other's company. SAF has an active committee which works
proactively on behalf of its members.
5 PROGRAM OF REGULAR TRIPS
Our events co-ordinator plans lots of interesting trips, visits and talks. SAF encourages new ideas and we hope that will be constantly looking for ideas and inspiration.
6 MEETING LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
Artists sometimes feel isolated as they usually work alone - SAF offers the opportunity to meet others in similar situations. SAF seeks to recruit members of all ages and
experience and hopes to be representative of artists working in a wide variety of media.
7 MAKING LINKS WITH OTHER SOCIETIES AND GROUPS
Joining SAF opens doors to meeting members of other art groups, societies and galleries. Members also receive discounted Artists' Insurance as we have a deal with an

As part of our events program, our artists open up their studios so that members can see their places of work and hear about each others creative process.
