Richard Dunne

Since leaving Solihull Art College my art 'style' has changed considerably as has the themes and subjects I like to paint.

I originally liked drawing and illustrating in pencil and pen and ink in extremely fine detail and initially shunned painting.

However, in recent years I've started to paint predominantly in Acrylic and tend to mix my paint directly 'on' the canvas which may not be the norm but i find it works for me (saves having to wash pallets if nothing else)

I find I enjoy painting 'things' i can relate to and which interest me. My love for the everthing outdoors, architecture (old and new) music (both playing and listening) tends to reflect in my work and will do in future.

Part of me tends to think i need to be more commercially aware but i find trying to chase the market an exhausting process (moving target springs to mind). My hope is that someone will see something I've done and that they find it gratifying and makes them pause for thought.

Whilst not a huge Andy Warhole fan but appreciate his contribution his following quotation i feel, is very apt.

"Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding make even more art".
