Paula studied for a degree in Textile Art at Camberwell and went on to the Royal College of Art for post graduate study. As a young graduate she made a living as a London based designer, producing hand painted silks and batiks for fashion designers. At that time, Nature was already the central theme of her inspiration, offering an infinite variety of shapes and forms which offer plenty of scope for interpretation.
Later in life Paula became Head of Art at a Secondary school in Solihull, a job she loved, and is now a full time artist with landscape and garden paintings her central themes. She uses acrylic paints in fairly liquid form to build layers of colour before working in more detail. Attempting to capture the feel of a season or time of day by use of colours and form, layers and silhouette; these things all excite and motivate the artist.
Paula won first prize in the Prize Exhibition at the RBSA in 2012 and was elected an Associate Member of the RBSA in April 2013. She is Hon.Secretary of Birmingham Art Circle and a loyal member of SAF. She regularly exhibits work at the RBSA and other venues and galleries in the West Midlands and has also exhibited work in London and Oxford and sells to private collectors in the UK and abroad.
